IMEX is an international trading business representing more than 40 manufacturers from 21 countries in Asia, Europe and the Americas. Our main selling markets are Panama, Costa Rica, USA and the Caribbean region including Puerto Rico. We've got humble beginnings with a global vision since day one (1). Today more than ever we value our organic growth but at the same time recognize we have to speed up with technology and stand up with "in a high-growth mode" looking to expand responsibly. About The Founder.

IMEX Americas was founded by Derrick Lugo who started working as an independent International Trade Broker in 2001 in the city of Miami, Florida (USA) under his own company D’Alessio International Trading, Inc. Derrick Lugo is Certified as an International Trade Specialist by the US Department of Commerce/US Commercial Service and as an ECommerce/E-Business Revolution Trained by the College of Business at Florida International University (FIU). During his internship at the US Department of Commerce he conducted research for the newest service of the Department, which was a comprehensive on-line source of commercial information about The United States of America, seeking to provide International Buyers key information about all the “Made in USA” products and services. Networking and cooperating with offices from around the world, various Federal Agencies, Economic Development Agencies and Organizations both domestic and international, he used the internet and various government and private databases to research materials to assist international buyers in identifying the best sources for “Made in USA” products and services. This experience was the catalytic to launch himself into self-employment. Early on he started working as an independent Agent/ Broker for manufacturers from foreign countries that wanted to gain access to the USA market. These first steps have evolved into an international network of partners, manufacturers, clients and customers from more than 21 countries. Today Derrick Lugo is at the helm of IMEX developing foreign markets for the products it represents in the sectors of Food & Beverage, Home & Construction, Packaging and Medical Devices. Derrick Lugo has a Bachelor's Degree in Communications with a minor in Marketing from Universidad del Sagrado Corazon (USC) in San Juan, Puerto Rico and a Master's Degree in International Business from Florida International University (FIU) in Miami, USA. He also graduated from the unique Graduate Management Program in International Business and International Marketing also from the College of Business at FIU.
